Environmental Epigenetics
Barrès Group

Our group focuses on the interaction between gene and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. In particular, we investigate how dietary factors and physical activity can influence glucose and lipid metabolism through epigenetic processes.

Our studies draw from the hypothesis that environmentally induced epigenetic modifications trigger changes in gene expression with the potential to be memorized along cell division, or inherited throughout generations.
