Managing Director

Torben Klein, Cand.scient.

Torben Klein was born in 1958, In 1985, he received his
MSc in Biology from the University of Copenhagen.

In 2011 Torben Klein was appointed Managing Director of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research. Prior to his job at the Center, Torben Klein was Managing Director and Dean of the Scandinavian International Management Institute. He held this position from 2009 through 2010.

Before 2009, he was Director of the Nordea Foundation (2007 – 2009), Director in the Danish Ministry of Education (2005 – 2007) and Managing Director of the Academy for the Technical Sciences (1999 – 2005).

Governance

The Managing Director reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Center is governed by a leadership team consisting of the Dean (chairman of the leadership team), the Managing Director, and five Scientific Directors, three of whom head a research theme each, and two who have a cross-sectional function to facilitate synergy.
